Maligned

Leader of the Zandalar trolls' assault on the vaults, Gara'jal is determined to crack open this trove of ancient mystery and bring back whatever arcane power and knowledge he can find. Gifted with dark talents and surrounded by a loyal cadre of Zandalar mystics, he has broken through the outer walls and will not rest until the vaults belong to him.

So on our third attempt over after carefully working out who would take totems, we killed Gara'jal for our third new encounter killed (if you count the hilariously easy Elite encounter) and our third heroic kill overall in fairly quick sucession.

Another DPS race that turned out to be nothing, although we should already somewhat overgear the encounter.

Next up, we face Elegon or Blade Lord Ta'yak, two fights that need perfect execution even at this stage, before the real progress starts with the next patch.
Long ago, Feng Shri was the Mogu'shan Vaults' caretaker, tasked with preserving the treasures kept within these shadowy halls. After years of faithful service, he was caught stealing from the shelves, although some say he was framed by a jealous underling and the mogu ruler punished him with a fatal curse. The doomed spirit of Feng Shri has wandered the vaults ever since, communing with the shades of past mogu heroes and warlords.

After our Stone Guard kill we managed to spend about an hour looking at the first two phases and accidentally the last of this four phase fight.

Sadly due to a shorter, but more relaxed raiding schedule we didn't get a chance to look at this encounter last week but this week after blitzing through our farm content we were able to start our heroic encounters in the Vaults a short while into our second three hour raid of the week we were back facing Feng.

I do love encounters that let you learn them stage by stage, so after a quick look at the third phase (where you need to stop some little mobs reaching a shield), we did a few attempts. We then made our way into the final, staggeringly difficult last phase where the boss now has 20% more damage and all hell is going to break lose.

It didn’t, we killed him. Job done.

During our farm raid on the Wednesday, we also decided to take a look at the Protectors on Elite mode, we let the tanks know about this shortly after the first pull so after inevitably wiping we next went straight into a kill, getting ourselves some better quality loot than what we get in Mogu'shan vaults. Woo.

Sunday, illness willing, we will be having a good look at Gara'jal.
The first line of defense against those daring to enter the vaults is a stolid row of enchanted, bestial statues. Hard as granite and ceaseless in their vigil, the sentries of the Stone Guard present an insurmountable wall of flame, fangs, and claws.

So our heroic campaign is finally underway and after three hours of learning the fight we have our first kill, executed cleanly and quickly - the kill at least, the corpses on the floor confirm we had a couple of goes where things just weren't looking right!

The most stressful fight for our tanks, even on normal, so it is good to have it out of the way first. Next up we have already spent an hour prodding Feng and looking at the four different phases of the fight - hopefully we will have some more time on him in this coming week.
